The Sunwood house is inspired by the traditional houses of the Basque Country. It is constructed in accordance with the many sustainable building parameters. Following these the east-west orientation of the house allows it to obtain important heat gain, thanks to having the longest side orientated to the South. It is here, next to the terrace space, where the main entrance is located. This big glass surface lets the suns heat enter the house and introduces the external views into it. Inside, it faces the main double-height space of the house: the living room.
When talking about the program organization - the secondary service space such as the warehouse or the garage spaces are located on the back of the house, while the rest of the main spaces are located next to the entrance an in both sides of a central corridor that gives structure to the home.
Among the sustainable building parameters mentioned, the use of wood stands out as one of the most representative. It is not only used as an outside finish both in the interior and the exterior, but as a whole building concept as well. From the structure to the furniture, wood gives the house its own and exclusive identity.
